Bitter Sweet
The objective of the project was to create a new bear to be pitched to Cabin Brewing Company. The design was to be 70s-inspired and connect to the audience of craft beer drinkers. We wanted to compel the feeling of sitting by a campfire in summer, creating lasting memories. Music has always been connected to memories and can create a path back to a time past.
Our group pulled visual inspiration from '70s home speakers. We love the wooden patterns on many of the Pioneer, Kenwood, and Sony speaker systems. A model that particularly stuck out to us was the Pioneer Model CS-901A (1974)
VISUAL INSPARATION
THE CAN
When transporting a home speaker, it is crucial that it stays standing straight up to protect the internal wiring. The box is designed after the speaker itself, complete with sound nobs and plugs on the back. The orientation of the design keeps the box straight up on the shelf and when you open it.
THE BOX
Everything you need for a good campfire at the cabin: hoodies for the chilly nights and comfort and a hat to keep the smoke out of your hair. A lighter to help start the fire, some mugs to add to the cabin’s ever-growing collection, and a speaker to start making memories.
